A Brief History
Books at a Fifth opened its door on April 13th 2009 under the management of April Farver and Aaron Guderjahn. Aaron funded the endeavor and worked behind the scenes. April managed the day to day operations, created our organization system, and formulated our book policies. Together, they raised two children on the income they generated. In 2014, adventure called and they moved on, leaving the bookstore in the care of Zack in November 2014.
Zack had always dreamed of owning a bookstore and he agreed to rent the business from Aaron until he had saved up enough to purchase it outright. While he enjoyed the experience, he came to realize that running a bookstore wasn't what he wanted to do. He passed the business back to Aaron, who sold it to his daughter, Rachel Guderjahn on February 2nd 2016.
Rachel still operates the bookstore. She has worked to fine tune the pricing system and has ambitions of opening a larger store one day. She works hard to learn as much as she can about the business and strives to adapt to an ever changing market. She spends a lot of her free time on her favorite hobby, TTRPGs (Tabletop Role Play Games) a book-centered game involving story-telling and creative problem solving.
